DuckDuckGo is a private search engine. They don’t collect or share personal information. Timing is particularly ripe for them right now after news involving Google and government surveillance heightened consumer concerns over privacy.
Check out DuckDuckGo’s traffic data after the news: https://duckduckg.com/traffic.html. That’s what it looks like when you have a product that people want.
They’re tackling a massive market. Incumbent, Google, is of course the elephant in the room, but they actually don’t need to beat Google. It’s a much differentiated product.
If you believe there will be increasing demand for a private search engine, DuckDuckGo would be a great investment. If news like that keeps coming out and consumers get sick of it, I believe there certainly will be.
