Problem: Sourcing and hiring staff is challenging and tedious.
Solution: Database of job seekers with scheduling tools.
Team: Former equity research analyst and Chicago Booth MBA. Opened a restaurant and experienced the pain of hiring and decided to solve it with technology.
Stage/Funding: Seed. Entrepreneur’s Round Table Accelerator and some angels.
My analysis: Restaurants have an annual employee turnover over 55%! Recruiting is a major problem that companies have made a killing solving for large companies, but restaurants have been ignored despite the similarities. It’s a large market and they have solid traction so far. There are also some potentially powerful network effects that could provide a long-term competitive advantage.
Concerns: Selling to restaurants is hard and expensive. However their current traction is beginning to prove otherwise.
Hiring: Tech folks. Last I heard, ios devs were a priority.
