Showing people continual progress and momentum is a great way to win over a deal or just stay in touch with people. Momentum attracts people like honey attracts bears.
If you’re talking to potential customers or partners, instead of sending another e-mail saying “Hey just wanted to follow up (and nag you some more)”, send them a follow up e-mail with an update including what other customers you’ve landed and the results you’ve delivered.
When staying in touch with potential investors, let them know what milestones you’ve met or metrics you’ve improved.
If it’s someone in your network that you want to stay in touch with and potentially work with in the future, let them know what you’re learning, what side projects you’re doing, or about your recent accomplishments.
Having results and accomplishments to point to is way more powerful than words or plans.
